Back In The Saddle Again -- So To Speak

Shields Lake CX, Richmond, Va.
Well, it has been one year since I last held my cameras in my hands for longer then a few minutes.  This medically induced exile was a result of a few things.  First, we had to get my myoclonus medication figured out. Until that happen my hands and arms would start to shake and wiggle as the muscles contracted and relaxed on their own due to the stress of being used. Interesting, figuring this out lead to another pretty big improvement.

Along with the myoclonus symptoms, my hands (but largely the left hand) would cramp up to the point the fingers did not want to open back up to let go of the camera.  One of those shock test showed my left wrist suffered from carpal tunnel syndrome to the extent surgery was indicated.

At this point the Dupuytren's contracture (also left hand) is holding steady and not progressing. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome affects the first three fingers of the hand while Dupuytren's affect the last two fingers of the hand.  Swelling of the pads at the base of my all fingers has gone down considerable since the operation.

Some shots were just practice, getting use to seeing life through a lens again, and to shoot sequences of a given rider to see how the wrist would hold up. I'm pretty happy to say that wrist did ok and felt good Sunday.  I put a couple up on flickr and there will be more here as I get them worked up.

Here are a few of the shots:
